Realme arrives in South Africa, launching two affordable smartphones

Smartphone brand Realme has announced its arrival in South Africa, with the availability of two devices from its C-Series range.

Realme is owned by parent company BBK Electronics, which also owns the Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus brands.

“Although spoilt for choice, we believe South Africa is ready for our devices,” Realme Account Lead Gareth Clarke said in a press release.

Clarke also added: “Africa is the next frontier for the smartphone market. Realme is already making the necessary plans to ensure we become the number one brand in the near future.”

The devices now available in South Africa include the Realme C55 and C30s.

Realme C55 features

The Realme C55 is the more premium of the two devices launched locally.

It sports a 64MP camera, a 6.72-inch FHD+ display, and a 5000mAh battery. It also supports 33W SuperVOOC charging.

The C30s is the smaller of the new devices, featuring a 6.5-inch display. Despite its smaller size, it also includes a 5000mAh battery.

The phone is an entry-level device aimed at budget-conscious consumers.

It comes with one main camera lens that’s 8MP, meanwhile on the front it has a 5MP selfie camera.

Realme C55 and C30s price in South Africa

The smartphones are now available in South Africa through Realme’s local retail and network partners.

The Realme C55 has a recommended retail price of R5,999 and is available through Takealot and MTN.

Meanwhile, the Realme C30s has a recommended retail price of R2,499 and is available through Truworths, Edgars, and Woolworths.
