Huawei has announced the release of the Y9s smartphone in South Africa – a new addition to the Y9 range aimed at delivering premium photography features at a mid-range price point.
The smartphone is a follow-up to the Y9 Prime, which launched last year.
So what does the Y9s include?
Huawei Y9s specs and features
Here are a few of main specifications of the Huawei Y9s:
- 6.59-inch FHD+ (2340 x 1080p) display
- Kirin 710F octa-core processor
- 6GB RAM
- 128GB built-in storage
- 4000mAh battery
- 48MP + 8MP + 2MP triple-lens main camera
- 16MP popup front-facing camera
The specifications are very similar to the Y9 Prime, with the same chipset, battery size and front-facing camera capabilities.
However the Y9s has an upgraded main camera lens setup with the inclusion of a 48MP lens. It also has more built-in storage and RAM than its predecessor.
As a result, the Y9s is better suited to those who want a more powerful smartphone camera at a mid-range price. However, this does come at a higher cost than the Y9 Prime.
Other features Huawei highlights are the Y9s camera’s night photography mode and efficient storage capabilities.
Huawei Y9s price and availability
The Huawei Y9s will retail in South Africa for R6 399 according to Huawei.
The smartphone will initially be available from Telkom or Huawei’s e-commerce store.
You can find out more about the phone on the Huawei consumer website.
