Xiaomi opened its Cape Town store, the second Xiaomi store in the country, to fanfare and enthusiasm.

The store opening was held on Friday, 16 December. Being a public holiday, consumers queued for hours at the Canal Walk store to be first in line once the ribbon was cut. Customers sought to cash in on the launch day specials, which included 50% discounts on select smartphones and 10% off select products.

Those who purchased products were also able to spin a wheel for additional Xiaomi merchandise.

Xiaomi South Africa has said that the store saw impressive sales. The most popular product proved to be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro, which launched in South Africa earlier this year.

Other products on show and snapped up by consumers included smart home devices such as security cameras, pet feeders, and smart vacuums.

The store opening marks the first time Capetonians were able to view Xiaomi products in-person at a dedicated store, allowing them to see the range of devices Xiaomi has on offer, as well as how they look in real life.

Other accessories on display included LED lighting strips from Yeelight, Xiaomi gadgets like its Massage Gun and laser measure, and even the Xiaomi Electric Scooter.
