Many of Asus’ Zenbook laptops are known for their thin-and-light design. But the company has taken this a step further and announced its thinnest OLED ultraportable laptop yet: the Zenbook S 13 OLED.
The laptop’s chassis measures only 1cm and weighs 1kg. But Asus says it hasn’t cut corners to achieve this lightweight form factor, with the device including premium hardware and a 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED display. In fact, the device actually includes an extra fan compared to the previous generation’s model.
Here’s a look at the features of the newly announced laptop, as well as the local launch price for South Africa.
Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED features

For the chassis, Auss used a magnesium-aluminium alloy that it says is both lightweight and sturdy.
Despite the slim form factor, the company has added an additional fan to the device to increase the effectiveness of its thermal management. To do this, Asus shrunk the PCB board by 15% and opted for an asymmetrical PCB layout.
While the battery is 0.45mm slimmer than the previous model’s, the 63Wh battery can still deliver up to 14 hours of battery life according to Asus.
Users can get up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1355 processor with the Zenbook S13 OLED.
Asus has also introduced its Asus Lumina OLED standard. This standard goes beyond traditional OLED by including a higher contrast and colour range.
The new device will also allow users to switch the display’s colour gamut using the MyAsus software. This includes switching between sRGB, DCI-P3, and Display P3.
When it comes to I/O ports, the Zenbook S13 has two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, a standard HDMI 2.1 port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, and a combo audio jack.
The laptop also features Harman Kardon-certified audio with Dolby Atmos support.
