Affordable Nokia G42 5G smartphone arrives in South Africa

For those on the lookout for affordable 5G smartphones, HMD Global has announced the availability of the Nokia G42 5G smartphone in South Africa.

The device aims to deliver a stylish design and three-day battery life to its owners, as well as Snapdragon-powered performance and a high-resolution camera.

Nokia G42 features

The Nokia G42 is a mid-range device that offers a large 6.56-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 50MP triple-lens main camera setup, and a 5,000mAh battery that can last up to 3 days with regular usage, according to HMD Global testing.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 480+ 5G processor. The local configuration comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Some of this internal storage can be allocated towards delivering an additional 2GB of virtual RAM.

Its rear camera features a 50MP main lens, a 2MP depth lens, and a 2MP macro lens. It also has an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies.

For those worried about Android updates, the phone comes with Android 13 and a guarantee of 2 years of OS upgrades and up to 3 years of monthly security updates.

The Nokia G42 is now available in South Africa from selected MTN retailers, priced from R4,999 for the dual-sim 4GB RAM/128GB storage version.
