Surface Pro 9 launches in South Africa: price and details

Microsoft’s 2-in-1 hybrid laptop, the Surface 9 Pro, has been released in South Africa. The announcement was made by local distributors Prima Interactive.

The Surface 9 Pro is one of Microsoft’s latest Surface devices, announced in October 2022.

Equipped with a 12th Gen Intel Core processor or a Microsoft SQ 3 processor (depending on the version), the device can be used as a laptop or a tablet. In tablet mode, it weighs around only 879 grams.

For its display, the device features a 13-inch PixelSense edge-to-edge touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a built-in kickstand on the back of the cover. This touchscreen is also compatible with the Surface Slim Pen 2, which you can use for signing documents, writing notes, or sketching.

Both the Intel versions and SQ 3 versions of the laptop feature a 47.7Wh battery. On the Intel version, this battery lasts up to 15.5 hours according to Microsoft. On the SQ version, which supports 5G, this battery lasts up to 19 hours.

A launch promotion will see customers who purchase a Surface Pro 9 receive a free Surface Slim Pen 2 (valued at R2,699). The promotion is valid between 15 and 31 March 2023 while stocks last.
